The 27th Cape May Jazz Festival April 20-22, 2007, pays "Tribute to Wes Montgomery" with PAT MARTINO'S Tribute opening Friday night in Convention Hall at 8pm followed by a Tribute by TEDDY ROYAL in the Boiler Room at Congress Hall with "Across the Globe" Band featuring Jesse Andrus 9pm - 1am. Rounding out the Tribute Saturday night 9pm - 1am will be BOB DeVOS performing with the Bootsie Barnes Organ Quartet featuring Boots on sax and Kyle Kohler, organ, at the Cafe Promenade; and BRIAN BETZ, guitar, performing with George Rabbai on trumpet in the Boiler Room. Everett Greene grew up in Indianapolis with Wes so Royce Campbell has been added to his performance making this also a Tribute to Wes Montgomery.
Opening Saturday night in Convention Hall will be TERENCE BLANCHARD plus OMAR SOSA at the Grand Hotel Friday night. Saturday night at the Grand... the CHARLES FAMBROUGH SEXTET featuring Maurice Brown, trumpet; Craig Handy, sax; Clifford Adams, trombone; George Colligan, piano.
ALSO FEATURING Saxophonist BUCK HILL, vocalists EVERETT GREENE, JOANNA PASCALE and by popular demand returning vocalists SHARON CLARK and SHERRY WILSON BUTLER plus bluesman CHRIS BERGSON and FRANK BEY, Latin Jam with CINTRON, Latin and Funk in Carney's with ERIC FRAZIER Friday night and SILA AND THE AFROFUNK EXPERIENCE Saturday night plus the high energy Jams, more Blues in Cabanas with Chris Bergson Friday and Saturday Bernard Purdie and the Hudson River Rats.
